Where do you train? Dominance Mixed Martial Arts (Strength and conditioning classes)
How long have you trained strength? 5 years
What do you like about strength training? I like being mobile, toned and ‘functionally strong’.
Life is easier when you are strong and fit. For instance, I can easily work around the family farm, lift things, ride my bike up hills, do a ju jitsu session (and not be stuck underneath).
Any strength based PRs? – 18 (full) chin-ups
What’s your favourite lift? Squats(but I have to include chin-ups)
What’s your training Achilles Heel? Hip mobility. This prevents a good range for squats.
How does your best mental and best physical strength manifest in everyday life?
Principles which I weave into my training and life are discipline, patience and tenacity.
Can you tell me a lifting cue, an approach or some advice that really hit home recently for you?
Since my injury (minor neck disc bulge) I’m all about going back to stable, body building exercises.
