I finally got a full set of 5 on the bench yesterday after a messy 5 weeks of non-linear non-progress. Tim and Shaun, who I was working in with on bench, were both destroying it and so good bench vibes helped me get a PB at 82.5kg and then another at 85kg.
Squats went really well today too. Despite all of the warm up sets feeling really heavy, I got my set of 5 @ 105kg and then went on to get a PB at 115kg which is awesome because it actually felt great and it's so close to 120kg I'm dribbling...bring. it. on. What have you got?

PR Friday this week - ladies and gentlemen - goes to... Ms Gemma O'Brien!
Gemma was one of my coaches at Crossfit Wollongong back in the day and TBC is looking forward to featuring an interview with her in the upcomming weeks. Meanwhile, check this out! Love your work Gem x So, I got 7 reps at 122.5kg on the deadlift which was awesome. I think I am making peace with being a remarkably slow lifter. It was actually fun to just grind it out until the form started to fall apart. fun. fun. fun. My coach got 3 reps at 185kg in the squat. hell yes he did. My friend Andrew did 3 x 5 @120kg on his deadlift. But... my cousin, Ms Kirsten Brown, gets the PR bouquet of the week. She banged out a 60kg bench, first time eva... Do you even lift? um - yeah. Now you do Kirsten!! What have you got?

Meanwhile, Megan Hinchley is KILLING it in Canberra. So, I'm just going to cheer for her by reposting this video... I was lucky enough to hang out with Megan and her and training partner, the incredible Liz Craven when they were squating earlier in the week... An interview and photos are up soon on TBC. I did 7 reps at 102.5kg for my squat and 6 deadlifts at 120kg. Both of those weights were my 1RM six months ago so I really am pleased about that.
I ate three bowls of cornflakes last night which is also a six month PR for cereal consumption. What have you got? |
